Uno de los clásicos del punk setentero fueron Alternative TV. La banda conformada por Mark Perry y Alex Fergusson (otro por supuesto, no el entrenador del Machester United) se caracterizó por sus experimentaciones sonoras producto de la apertura a nuevos sonidos llegados desde las colonias inglesas (dub,reggae,etc) y desde la Alemania vanguardista (krautrock). Su sonido fue mucho más elaborado que el de sus compañeros de generación quienes estaban más preocupados en la anarquía, la pose y las fijaciones políticas.
